During the past month, the Health Department has seen an increase in enteric diseases across Lubbock. Symptoms can include diarrhea, vomiting, fever, and stomach cramps. They can last up to seven days after being exposed. Enteric diseases can easily spread from person-to-person if you aren't washing your hands throughout the day. So the key is good hand washing before and after eating or handling food, using the bathroom, or changing diapers. However...if you've been exposed, you should contact your physician immediately because antibiotics will help shorten the symptoms.
