A word of warning if you're thinking about zipping over to UMC to see a patient over there, police will give you a ticket if you zip over 10 miles per hour. That's the new speed limit around UMC, enforced by Texas Tech police. Apparently there's already been an accident when a driver didn't see a pedestrian crossing the road from one parking lot to another. UMC marketing director Eric Finley said,
"We really felt like after that accident happened that for the safety of our patients, our staff, and the people driving along, we really needed to slow the traffic down….Texas Tech police are out there quite a bit and they will pull you over if you're going too fast".
Finley says there are no exceptions to the rule. A doctor at UMC was pulled over for going 30 in that 10 miles an hour zone and he was fined 300 dollars.
