LUBBOCK, Texas – Texas Tech women's basketball head coach Kristy Curry announced on Wednesday that Hutchinson Community College player Jackie Patterson has signed a national letter of intent to continue her collegiate career at Texas Tech this fall.

"We are thrilled to have Jackie as part of our basketball family," Curry said. "We have watched her development throughout her high school and junior college career and have no doubt she will impact our program both on and off the court. We are so happy that she has now come back to her home state to finish her career in the Big 12 Conference."

The Frisco, Texas native helped Hutchinson Community College get all the way to the National Junior College Athletic Association National Championship game this season, pushing the No. 2 Lady Dragons to a 36-1 overall record – its best season in the program's 38-year history.
"I am delighted to be playing at Texas Tech next year," Patterson said. "I'm thrilled with the new opportunity to be playing for coach Curry and her staff."

Patterson, a 6-foot-1 sophomore forward, averaged 12.3 points, 7.8 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game this season and was a two-time NJCAA Player of the Week, NJCAA National All-Tournament Team member and 2011-12 NJCAA First-Team All-American. She picked up Second Team All-America honors in 2010-11.

Patterson led the Lady Dragons' run in the NJCAA National Tournament with a 16 points and 8.25 rebounds per game over the four games in the tournament, including a 14-point, 11-rebound performance in the 75-42 opening game win against Meridain Community College.
"Jackie has great athleticism," Curry said. "Combined with the ability to run the floor, rebound on both ends and step out and face up, she will make an immediate impact at the power forward position in our system. She is a student of the game and has a will to play at a championship level which was evident this past season at Hutchinson CC."

Patterson will join the stellar 2012 class ofKellyn Schneider (Lubbock Monterey HS/Lubbock, Texas), Ivonne Cook-Taylor (Terra Nova HS/Daly City, Calif.), Minta Spears (Bullard HS/Bullard, Texas), and Shunta Nevitt (Dekaney HS/Houston, Texas).
