Public health officials say all baby boomers should be tested for the Hepatitis C virus. The Centers for Disease Control proposed today that all adults born between 1945 and 1965, those in the baby boomer generation, get a one-time test once for the virus. The CDC says one in 30 baby boomers has been infected with Hepatitis C, and most don't know it. The virus is passed through contact with blood from an infected person. It can cause serious liver diseases, including liver cancer, which is the fastest-rising cause of cancer-related deaths in the country. If caught early, experts say newly available treatments can cure up to three-quarters of Hepatitis C infections.
