The condition of the victim in the South Lubbock construction zone accident has improved from critical to serious.

Toddrick Thomas was injured Thursday morning on the South Loop 289 access road near Slide. Police say the driver of the car he was in became distracted and missed the on-ramp to the loop. The vehicle hit a pile of re-bar and one bar pierced Thomas's neck.
