We've talked a lot about fast food chains jumping on the better food bandwagon. Well, it's official now, at McDonald's, the Happy Meals have gone healthy. And not just for kids, adults can get a Happy Meal that includes a salad and bottled water or a diet drink and a prize which they call a Step-O-Meter. You just snap it on and measure your steps all day.
As recommended by the department of Health and Human Services, McDonald's is challenging steppers to log 10,000 steps a day. And kids can get a healthy Happy Meal, too.
If you request it, McDonald's will substitute an apple treat instead of fries. They're called Apple Dippers because they come with caramel sauce on the side. Remember, you have to ask for Apple Dippers if you want the healthy Happy Meal.
