Students in the Lubbock Independent School District will have to dress a little differently next year.
Thursday, the School Board approved a new Standards for Student Conduct. Under the new guidelines, students will no longer be able to wear sagging or baggy pants or wear their hair in the mohawk or faux-hawk style.
Superintendent Dr. Karen Garza said this is standard policy for them to make changes every few years.
"It's just part of what we do in our responsibility to look at our policies every year," Garza said. "What needs to be tweaked? What needs to be changed in order to support teaching and learning in our schools."
The new dress code will go into effect this fall.
