Paul Villanueva A Clovis man is behind bars after he was released from a Lubbock hospital Thursday.
Paul Villanueva, 23 was shot by a police officer in the abdomen after he tried to flee. Villanueva broke into his ex-girlfriend's home and threatened her with a gun. He then sexually assaulted her.
Police were called to the area; that is when Villanueva tried to escape cops. Police shot him in the abdomen. He was transported to a Lubbock hospital.
Villanueva is awaiting extradition to New Mexico.
