Severe Weather Brings Tornado To NorthWest Panhandle

Residents in a community near Houston are surveying storm damage.

Conroe was one of the hardest hit areas on Tuesday. Strong winds and downpours ripped the shingles off of roofs and toppled trees. Some of the most severe damage is believed to have been caused when a tornado touched down in one neighborhood. On Wednesday emergency crews are in the area clearing debris from the streets.

In Hartley, a town about 55 miles NorthWest of Amarillo, a tornado is being blamed for derailing a freight train. Two engines and at least five empty coal cars derailed in the intense winds. One of the cars landed on a nearby high way. More storms are expected to hit the Houston area in the next few days.
