Starting Saturday, watering your lawn during inappropriate times can result in a fine up to $500.

The city's new water ordinance prohibits you from watering between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. during Daylight Savings Time, or during freezing or rainy weather at any time. However, you are exempt from this ordinance if you water by hand or using a soaker hose. Homeowners with newly installed grass or plants will also be exempt to get that growth started
