Three Lubbock Street Closures Drivers Need To Be Aware Of

Here are a few notes on road construction in Lubbock:

On Sunday, Memphis Avenue will be closed between 19th and 21st streets. Utility crews will be on location from 3pm - 9pm, installing water and sewer main taps for new commercial construction nearby.

Also, major traffic changes are in store next week, as TxDOT prepares to close portions of Loop 289. This affects the Loop from 34th Street to Slide. That stretch is scheduled to be shut down Thursday, May 20th, and will remain closed until the project is completed at the end of 2005.

The changes on Slide Road at 34th Street and Brownfield have been delayed until Tuesday. Among the most significant changes - southbound traffic on Slide will no longer be allowed to turn left onto 34th Street. The plan is designed to alleviate some of the traffic congestion likely to occur on Slide road when the Loop closes.
