Levelland hosts the Bobby Birdsong Memorial Levelland Lope

LEVELLAND, TX (KCBD) -

On Saturday, the West Texas Running Club will host the Bobby Birdsong Memorial Levelland Lope, named in memory of Bobby Birdsong as a tribute to this dedicated Levelland High School teacher. Birdsong was the first Race Director of the Levelland Lope in 1980, and served in this capacity through 1988.

The event features a 2 Mile and 10K (6.2 Miles) race. Both races offer flat, out and back courses.

Races start at the corner of Verne Beebe Drive & L.C. Kearney Drive in Levelland at 8 a.m. and bib/chip pick-up closes at 7:30 a.m.  

Minimum ages are 7 for the 2 Mile, and 13 for the 10K. Entry fees are $5 for West Texas Running Club (WTRC) members and all children 12 and under, and $15 for non-members.

Online registration closes Thursday, June 7 at 6 p.m. No race day registration is allowed, and insurance prohibits strollers, roller blades, pets and bicycles on the run course.
