DeLeon Wins District 1 City Council Race

Linda DeLeon won over her opponent Cloetta Shotts 72% to 28% Saturday night to secure the seat for City Council District 1. Deleon and several of her supporters celebrated her win at the Science Spectrum.

Deleon says she's thrilled with the win and thanked those who voted. She says she's excited about the challenge before her and her first priority is public safety.

"We need to have presence of police officers in our neighborhood so I want to come up with a plan for reducing paperwork that's demanded of them to release them to do patrolling they should be doing in the neighborhood." Noted DeLeon.

Deleon says she also wants to strengthen the economy by bringing small businesses to Lubbock.
