Watering your lawn during certain hours of the day could cost you.
Lubbock's new water ordinance went into effect Saturday. It is now illegal to water your lawn between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. during daylight savings time or when there is freezing or rainy weather.
There are certain exemptions for watering new grass or plants. First time violators will receive a warning. After that, violators face a fine of up to $500.
