Rollover Kills Plainview Toddler & Injures Five Others

A Plainview toddler is dead after a rollover Sunday in Crosby County.

The accident happened just after Noon, on FM 1471. DPS officials say the driver of a Ford F-250 pickup failed to negotiate a curve, then skidded off the road and overturned. Two-year-old Jonathan Hinojosa was ejected from the vehicle and pinned underneath.

The driver of the pickup, 26-year-old Gilberto Hinojosa suffered a broken neck. He is listed in serious condition at University Medical Center. Four other victims are listed in satisfactory condition.

Investigators cite excessive speed as the cause of the crash. They also say no car seats - or seat belts were used.
