Monahans Traffic Accident Sends Teen to Lubbock Hospital

A two vehicle crash on I-20 claimed two lives Sunday night, shutting down the interstate for about 6 hours.

The accident occurred in Monahans, just after dusk. DPS Troopers say a pickup crossed the median and slammed into an oncoming 18-wheeler carrying video equipment.

Two people in the pickup were pronounced dead at the scene. A 13-year-old boy, also in the pickup, was airlifted to Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock. He is currently listed in critical condition. The two people in the semi suffered non-life threatening injuries.
