Man hit by car and killed on Lubbock street

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) -

A pedestrian was hit and killed late Monday night near 27th and Avenue Q.

Lubbock Police say Jose Alvarado, 51, was eastbound attempting to cross Avenue Q around 9:30 p.m. Alvarado failed to yield the right of way and was struck by Robert Vitela, 47, driving a Ford Focus.

Alvarado was transported to University Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.
