If the west loop is part of your commute, brace yourself for an early morning adjustment. Overnight on May 19th, TX-DOT will close West Loop 289 from 34th to Slide.
The Loop between 34th Street and slide will be closed for over a year, as construction crews revamp the West Loop.

According to TX-DOT commuters should factor in another six to eight minutes to their commute.
During the construction time you will have to drive along the Loop access roads. The Brownfield Highway underpass will also be shut down completely.
So, for example, if you're driving from Lubbock to Wolfforth, you will need to take the access road to 34th and turn around to get back to the Brownfield Highway.
And, if you're heading east on the Loop access road, a new fly over has been built to help traffic exit onto Slide Road.
