Gaines County Sheriff's Deputies are investigating a case that they describe as a double homicide. The victims are identified as Jay Bradley Doyal, 29, and John Allen, 30, both of Gaines County.

On May 10, 2012 the Gaines County Sheriff's Department began investigating a double homicide in western Gaines County. The victims were identified as John Allen and Jay Doyal. Sheriff Jon Key and Texas Ranger Brian Burney began working with officers of the Hobbs Police Department, Lea County Sheriff's Department and New Mexico State Police.
During a lengthy investigation, the case was presented to a Gaines County Grand Jury on Thursday June 21, 2012. The Grand Jury indicted Nicomedes Daniel Sosa II AKA: Dan Dan, 34 years of age of Hobbs, New Mexico, on one felony count of Capital Murder and one felony count of Murder.
Investigators revealed that the investigation is ongoing and more indictments are anticipated
