West Texas Explosion Sends Worker To UMC With Severe Burns

An explosion at a West Texas gas processing plant sparked a fire that crews had a hard time getting under control.

It happened at the East Vealmoor Gas Plant located about 20-miles North of Big Spring, near the Howard, Dawson County Line. One worker was severely burned when a small fire started in an engine room, causing the explosion. He suffered critical injuries and was brought to University Medical Center here in Lubbock.

Problems with the plant's fire hydrants hampered efforts to put out the fire.
