LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) -

Members of the Lubbock Criminal Defense Lawyers Association gathered to read the Declaration of Independence Tuesday at the west entrance to the Lubbock County Courthouse.

The association said, by reading the Declaration of Independence on the courthouse steps, they not only honored those who created the document, but also paid tribute to the ideals they stood for and fought for.

LCDLA members participated in the reading in conjunction with the Texas Criminal Defense Lawyers Association and many similar organizations across Texas.

This is the second year the group has chosen this way to pay tribute to the brave men of the Continental Congress.
