LUBBOCK COUNTY, TX (KCBD) -
Many people celebrated America's birthday in their own way Wednesday night, and now Lubbock is asking people to please pick up their mess.
From poppers to rockets, there are pieces of used fireworks on or alongside many roads in the county.
County Commissioner Mark Heinrich says they are trying to keep the roadways clean and make things easier for farmers out in the county.
"There's some major issues with the farmers," Heinrich said. "It gets into their cotton crop and then they strip it - it causes problems. We are out now with our own county crews picking up the trash and taking care of it."
Heinrich says it could be a few more days before they get everything picked up.
