Drag boat races return to Buffalo Springs Lake

It's been two years since they were here last, but this weekend drag boats will be racing again in Buffalo Springs Lake. It's all part of the 2012 "Thunder in the Canyon" race.

Jennifer Moritz, Events Director at Buffalo Springs Lake, says they're expecting thousands of people to attend.

"The drag boat races definitely have a great positive impact on the Lubbock economy," Moritz said. "These are a bunch of families from all over the state of Texas, Oklahoma, and Louisiana that will stay in our hotels, that will go to our grocery stores, that will go to our restaurants."

It all starts on Friday with boats on display for their "Show-n-Shine" followed by qualifying races on Saturday and the finals on Sunday.
