Ongoing Investigation Leads To Arrest Of Murder Suspect
Juan Luna is on his way to the Hale County Jail, just hours after being arrested in Lubbock.
Luna was arraigned for the murder of Manuel Rivera late Wednesday afternoon in a Lubbock Courtroom. Police arrested Luna after he was indicted by a Hale County jury.
Rivera's body was found on a dirt road NE of Plainview on June 23rd, 2002. Luna also spent 91 days in jail for the shooting death of Ernesto Cabrera in Lubbock last October. However, those charges were dropped when it was determined Luna was not the shooter.
Wednesday's arrest is part of an ongoing investigation by the Lubbock and Hale County Sheriff's Office and the Texas Rangers. The investigation includes trying to determine if Luna is linked to the Texas Syndicate Prison gang.
