LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) -

A Lubbock man is accused of stealing money from undercover federal agents. Jonah Joe Rodriguez, 31, of Lubbock was charged on Thursday with one misdemeanor count of Theft of Government Property.

Federal prosecutors' request for an arrest warrant says a confidential informant and an undercover officer, "… gave Rodriquez $750.00 in official funds as one-half of the purchase price for one ounce of methamphetamine."

Rodriquez was supposed to get meth from his source and turn it over as evidence. Instead, he took the money and ran.

The complaint says, "Rodriquez took the $750.00 and departed … but never delivered the methamphetamine."

It also says, "Law enforcement believes that Rodriquez is a member of the West Texas Tango prison gang and a prospect of the Texas Mexican Mafia prison gang."

This is not Rodriquez' first rodeo in terms of a run-in with law enforcement. Previous charges against him by state prosecutors include Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle, Theft $500 - $1,500 and Burglary.
