The most popular treatment for Multiple Sclerosis may not stop the disease from progressing. Interferon beta drugs are the most widely-prescribed drugs for multiple sclerosis. A new study out of the University of British Columbia measured how long it took for patients using the drugs to experience a decline in their symptoms, and compared them to patients not using the medication. Researchers found no evidence the drugs helped slow the progression of their disease. They say this study makes them question whether the drugs should be so widely used. Experts say some patients may still benefit from interferon beta drugs, they just don't know how to identify them. They are pushing for more studies.
