One woman was killed and three other people were injured after a car failed to yield the right of way to a semi. The accident happened at the intersection of Kent St. and North Milwaukee around 1:30 p.m. on Sunday.
Officials say 21 year-old Kristi Hertel was headed north on Milwaukee when she stopped at a two-way stop sign and proceeded through the intersection. That's when her Oldsmobile was hit in the driver's side by a semi driven by 56 year-old Rodney Goswick.
DPS says that Goswick did not have a stop sign and did everything possible not to strike the car. Hertel and her two passengers, 20 year-old Matthew Ysasaga and 17 year-old Kristan Hardin, were taken to University Medical Center.
Hertel died at the hospital. Ysasaga is listed in serious condition. Hardin was treated and released. Goswick, the driver of the semi is still being evaluated in the emergency room.
