When Jason Young lets the discus fly at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London on August 6th, his wife will be there to see the action, thanks to the generous people of West Texas.

Jason had to wait to make sure he made the U.S. team - which capped off a 12-year journey. Once he achieved that goal, only then could he try to get his wife over to London, too.

Faced with the expense of airline and hotel accommodations, Jason turned to West Texas for help. On Thursday, Young announced that his wife is making the trip.

"We met our goal. I'm getting ready to take off to London. My wife will be headed over in a couple of weeks. We got her a first class flight," Young said. "I've been amazed how people have shown up and been generous - and that I have their support."

A recent meet and greet at Zach's Club raised a large amount of the funds. Jason humbly thanks West Texas for the blessing.

"I want to thank everyone in Lubbock and the West Texas area who contributed and has given me their support," Young said. It's been an honor and it's gonna be a pleasure to represent you guys in the Olympic Games."

Jason will be leaving for London Friday to attend a training camp and prepare for the Games.

"Training Camp is something I'm looking forward to," Young said. "Final preparations, final steps to get ready to get in the Olympic Stadium and try to get something done."

Qualifying is August 6th and the Discus Finals are the 7th. KCBD will be following Jason in London.

You can see the Olympics on KCBD NewsChannel 11 starting with the Opening Ceremonies on July 27th.
