Dawson County inmate in critical condition at UMC

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) -

A Dawson County Jail inmate was in critical condition at University Medical Center Thursday. Daniel Lucio was brought to UMC after he was severely hurt at the jail.

His attorney, Charlie Dunn, says Lucio was banging on jail bars when they moved him to isolation.

Later, his family was called, and Dawson County officials told them he had a seizure.

Dunn says they told them to pick him up at the emergency room.

Lucio's attorney says the jail bonded him out before taking him to the hospital, meaning they wouldn't have to pay for his medical bills.

Sheriff Kent Parchman confirmed they are investigating and that the Texas Rangers out of Midland are aiding in the investigation.
