POST, TX (KCBD) - A popular attraction in Post that brings visitors from all across the country is the Ragtown Gospel Theater. The theater opened it's doors back in March 2007, and puts on original, Christian-themed performances.
The theater is a labor of love for brothers Chip and Glenn Polk. The theater got it's start, after Glenn says he and his wife Twila, were called upon, by the Lord, to do something special.
"When I was 55 years old, God called us into the ministry and so Twila and I began to travel all over the country and Europe. I was doing a one man presentation of the Apostle Paul," said Glenn.
The traveling ended 7 years later. That's when Glenn and Chip felt a different calling that brought them back to Post. They built the massive, 500-seat Ragtown Gospel Theater. The state of the art performance hall is where the brothers began to write, produce and perform the Gospel of Jesus Christ through live performances.
"All of our dramas are based on the Bible. We also have gospel music," Glenn said.
The Polk brothers produce four performances a year for their theater. They have become quite popular - bringing in hundreds of people each time.
"Last production we did we were sold out. The theater will hold 500 people and we sold it out many times," Glenn said. "We have people come from all over West Texas, Eastern New Mexico. I think the furthest was a church from Liberal, Kansas. They come from all over."
Thanks to the generosity of fans, supporters and complete strangers who donated money to their cause, the Ragtown Gospel Theater is completely debt free. The brothers say they now feel called to complete an outdoor amphitheater for future performances.
