The City of Mosaics rallies behind the Levelland Main Street Program, as it keeps their businesses full and their visitors coming back.
Implemented back in 1981, the Texas Main Street Program helps cities like Levelland boost their economy.
It helps to promote particular businesses in the area. Members of the program are known to put enticing signs on doors for potential business owners to renovate. They seem to take notice, as the program has helped to initiate $860 million in reinvestment for downtown and commercial districts across the state. The program also encourages cities to keep their historic downtown areas alive and well through preservation. Main Street Program President Tania Moody said the program benefits the mentality of the community.
"It's almost like the city of sitting on your back porch and knowing your friends and neighbors."
The Texas Main Street program has assisted 130 Texas cities and has accounted for more than 18,200 jobs statewide.
