Lubbock police investigating head-on collision

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) -

Lubbock police are investigating an overnight accident where alcohol is believed to be a factor. Police say just after midnight, a head-on collision occurred at 1600 50th Street where one vehicle crossed the median.

A Chevy 2-door driven by James Cobbs, 58 was headed west on 50th Street while a Hyundai 4-door driven by Allen Joyce, 58.

Police say Cobbs crossed the median and collided head on with Joyce. Joyce remains in critical condition at UMC. Cobbs was treated and released.

Due to life-threatening injuries, Accident Investigators were activated and the investigation is on-going.
