The second week of August each year is dedicated to recognizing the service and
contributions of Community, Migrant, Homeless and Public Housing Health Centers,
such as Community Health Center of Lubbock (CHCL), in providing access to
affordable, high quality, cost-effective health care to medically vulnerable and
underserved people in the U.S. "Celebrating America's Health Centers: Powering
Healthier Communities" is the theme for National Community Health Center Week 2012.
The theme is meant to showcase the multitude of ways in which America's Health
Centers are "powering" and "empowering" healthier communities.
CHCL is a nonprofit corporation that provides affordable high quality medical care,
dental care, eye care and mental health services for the general population, Migrant and
Seasonal Farmworkers, Homeless individuals and residents of Public Housing. The
organization's service area includes Lubbock, Crosby, Garza, Lynn and Terry counties.
In honor of National Health Center Week, CHCL will be hosting our Back to School Fest
on Saturday, August 4, 2012 from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Arnett Benson Medical
and Dental Clinic at 3301 Clovis Road, Lubbock, TX 79415. There will be free
immunizations provided (with parent and shot record). Free backpacks filled with school
supplies will also be provided while supplies last. Food and snacks will be available.
Exhibitors will be on hand to provide information on Nutrition, Physical Activity, Child
Safety, Parenting, Bicycle Safety and other resources that are available to the Lubbock
