It's not every day that a major landmark goes up for sale on eBay, but Plainview's historic Granada Theater can be yours for the right price and the click of a mouse.
As of early Wednesday morning the top bid was $15,100
The current owner is identified by the Plainview Daily Herald as Cal Collins of McAllen. Living so far away got in the way of Collins' big ideas for the theater when he bought it for $20,000.
On eBay, Collins lists the taxable value as just more than $49,000 and, yes, it's a fixer-upper. There are problems with the roof, and there is asbestos in some floor tile that either has be removed or covered over with carpet.
The eBay listing says, "There was a broken window above the marquee and pigeons were living in there. The window was replaced/repaired but you will need to clean up pigeon poop."
The Granada was built in the late 1920's and underwent a major remodeling in the late 70's. It closed down in 1997.
