Garden and Arts Center hosts Friday Morning Portrait Artists

From City of Lubbock:

The Lubbock Municipal Garden and Arts Center (GAC), located at 4215 University, will host a reception on Friday, August 3, 2012 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. during the First Friday Art Trail for the opening of a collection of works by the Friday Morning Portrait Artists (FPA).

Throughout the year on Friday mornings, FPA is afforded the opportunity to work in the Center's studio inspired by a live model and focused on portraiture. There is no instructor to guide the group's efforts, but the studio-atmosphere is congenial, structured, and conducive to learning. Artists of all skill levels can work side by side and benefit from dedicated life-drawing of this nature. Friday Portrait Artists follow their own paths as independent individuals with distinct styles and unique visions. Brought together, they form a group that is all about the continual development of the artist and the model/artist relationship.

The Lubbock Municipal Garden and Arts Center strives to offer an array of fun and comprehensive classes and events for all ages, from basic classes in painting, drawing and photography, to specialized classes such as stained glass. The center is located at 4215 University Avenue. For more information on classes or reservations please call the Lubbock Municipal Garden and Arts Center at (806) 767-3724, email pgriffith@mylubbock.us or visit our web site at www.lubbockgac.org.
