Food for Thought 8/2/12

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) -

This week, Lubbock Health Inspectors went behind the kitchen doors of 37 food establishments and liked what they saw. There was a long list of Top Performers and no Low's.

"Cup of Yo" at 6076 Marsha Sharp Freeway serves up frozen yogurt treats and was one of this week's Top Performers. Owner Lori Shavers say take pride in her store and expects perfection every day.

"It's just like, this dream come true that we opened this. It's family owned, local and we just take pride in our product and our service. Cleanliness is a big part of it," Shavers said.

Along with two of her sisters, Shavers has owned "Cup of Yo" for the past two years. She says the first thing she makes sure is in tip top shape, is the topping bar you see when you first walk in the doors.

"That's the first thing customers see when they come in and if it's messy they don't want to get the toppings. It's a turnoff," Shavers said.

Shaver says she is thrilled to be a Top Performer and will continue to keep her store as clean as possible. She says it's the kind of service her customers have come to expect.

"We really stress that cleanliness is important and it does pay off and our customers tell us that. That's the best compliment we could have," Shavers said.

Shaver's store is one of several who had a perfect score this week. Also rounding out the list of Top Performers:

  • Firehouse Subs, 5027 Milwaukee Avenue
  • Stripes, 6502 19th Street
  • Joyland Amusement Park Concession, 302 I-27
