4 people evacuated from burning house overnight

Posted: Updated:
LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) -

Lubbock firefighters found the back portion of a house on fire Friday at 1:25 a.m. in the 5400 block of 47th Street. Firefighters made quick work of the situation and confined the damage to the back porch and kitchen. Everyone was safely out of the house and the Fire Department says there are no injuries.

A power line near the house was also on fire, but it's not clear yet if the power line caused the fire or if instead the fire started somewhere else and spread to the power line connection to the back of the house.

The Red Cross assisted four college-age residents of the house with food and clothing.
