Mayor says LP&L Chairman not the source of political threats

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) -

Mayor Glen Robertson says that Lubbock Power & Light Chairman Mike Davis is not the source of political threats made against him last week. The Mayor has not said specifically who threatened him.

Robertson also says in a written statement on his Facebook page that he and Davis have agreed "to have a calm and professional discussion" over the city-owned utility, LP&L.

Robertson said last week that he had received phone calls threatening that if he did not back down from looking into certain issues, then his opponents would raise money to make sure he was never elected to an office again.

His statement late Thursday says, "I had a very productive meeting this afternoon with Mike Davis, the President of the LPL board. We have agreed to work together to find solutions…"

It goes on to say Davis "has agreed to post several items on the LP&L agenda for discussion and action by the board in open meetings over the next several months."

In particular Robertson has raised concerns about accounting and whether there is a need to raise rates at this time to avert an operating deficit for LP&L.

In a separate Facebook posting Robertson says he and Davis don't agree but Davis has been professional about it.
