People called him the "great communicator" and he became one of the most popular American presidents ever. NewsChannel 11 talked to some folks on the South Plains about the loss of Ronald Reagan.
"I think it's really sad. He's been a great president and it's been a long time since we've had a president die."
"I feel sorry for his wife, be he didn't know where he was or who he was and Alzheimer's is a terrible disease. So in a way it's a blessing."
"I think it's probably a blessing the condition he was in and what he had to go through the last few years sometimes it's a blessing."
"I voted for him every time he ran for president and I think we are today in this world where we are because of Ronald Reagan. "
We also spoke to Congressman Randy Neugebauer about the president who will be remembered for his tragedies as well as his triumphs.
"We lost a great American today and certainly as someone who grew up during the Cold War and remembers that President Reagan was a champion of democracy and freedom for the whole world" stated Neugebauer.
