Effort to cut TX requirement for shampoo apprentice and other red tape

Posted: Updated:
LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) -

Do you have a pet peeve with state regulation - some silly red tape you'd like to cut?  Thanks to Lubbock State Representative John Frullo and a handful of his colleagues in the Legislature, here's your chance to get rid of it.

For example, it is illegal to have a job in Texas that involves shampooing someone's hair without a cosmetology license.  The only way around it is to get a specialty certificate in shampooing.  But the certificate first requires you to become a shampoo apprentice.

Frullo and other lawmakers have set up a website where you can comment on red tape and make suggestions as to how the law can be better: http://www.texasredtapechallenge.com/
