Update on West Nile in the Metroplex

Posted: Updated:

An update on West Nile, mosquitoes pick up the virus from birds they bite, and then spread it to people. There has not been any aerial spraying for mosquitoes in Dallas since the 1960s.   But that's what the Dallas County Medical Society is asking the county to do because West Nile is still spreading across the Metroplex.

That sounds dramatic, but listen to this...most people who get West Nile don't even know it because their immune system can fight it off.   Creative Testing Solutions is a company that tests every pint of donated blood in North Texas, and it says this year, it's finding an unusually high number of samples testing positive for West Nile in people who are showing no symptoms.
