Confrontation at local bar ends deadly

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) -

There is new information about an overnight shooting that left a man dead. Police say 50-year old Daniel Jimenez was shot and killed at Wolfy's Night Club and Sports Bar on Clovis Rd. and 2nd St. around 12:30 Thursday morning.

Police say Jimenez entered the bar and demanded to speak to an employee. The two went into a back room and that's when police say Jimenez pulled a gun on the employee. The employee was able to wrestle the gun away from him and that's when he shot and killed Jimenez with the suspect's own gun.

However, there are always two sides to every story. KCBD NewsChannel 11 spoke with Jimenez's wife and daughter and they claim that is not at all what happen. They say Jimenez was best friends with the employees at Wolfy's but that they were trying to cover something up. His wife also said that her husband was a good man, who loved his family. Jimenez does have a lengthy criminal background, that includes multiple arrests for murder and attempted murder.

Police are still investigating, and they say there are no other suspects and no arrests have been made. TABC has closed Wolfy's down for at least the next seven days.
