Levelland-based South Plains College will keep tax rates the same at 24.795 cents per $100 for the coming year but higher appraisals will create $1.9 million increase in revenue.
SPC President Kelvin Sharp is proposing to expand the college with a new 104-bed dormitory. Sharp is also proposing to use part of the former Wal Mart building for the cosmetology program. A new dorm would cost roughly $7.8 million and the proposed move of cosmetology would cost more than $2.6 million.
