I was driving down the street last week when I saw a poor animal that had been hit by a car and killed. My first thought was someone should come and remove it from the street before a bigger mess was made.
Honestly, I had to claim the "not my job" award on this one, so I called 311. It's the City's help line to report problems. Within a short time, a crew from the city had removed the animal. And I wasn't surprised because it wasn't the first time I used 311. After hitting the same pothole over and over, I also called and it was fixed within a day or two. It made me wish I had called sooner.
It's easy to complain about services provided by the City, but this one really works. If you didn't know about it, now you do. 311 is one city program that I am happy to pay for with my tax dollars.
Now they aren't available around the clock, but if you call between 8 and 5 with a pothole, tall weeds, dead animals, or any other non-emergency, I bet your experience will be extremely positive.
So congratulations to the 311 crew. You all are getting it right.
