West Nile death total increases in the Dallas area

Posted: Updated:

Yesterday it was 20, today, 30 West Nile deaths are reported nationwide.  But still no sign of the virus in mosquitoes tested here in Lubbock.  However, it if you have family in the Dallas area, you should know it is a serious problem there.  In fact, Dallas Mayor Mike Rawlings said in a tweet that the city should be declared a local state of disaster because of West Nile.  Even though most West Nile victims have no symptoms and recover quickly. Experts say it's still a good idea to use insect repellent outdoors.  Also, drain areas of standing water, like in bird baths, and wear long sleeves and pants when outside at dawn and dusk --when mosquitoes are most active.
