If you want to whiten your teeth, you may be considering those drugstore White Strips or investing in some treatment from your dentist. Custom trays or light activated bleaching may brighten your smile a few shades, for a few months, maybe even a year, but Dr. Sheldon Sideman says you should know first that everybody has their own white limit.
"We usually like the benchmark of the whites of your eyes. Because anything beyond that probably won't last as long as the person would want it to last," he explains.
Dr. Sideman says a smile brighter than the whites of your eyes wouldn't look natural anyway. Also, he says remember that no product can whiten dental work. Instead, you have to replace veneers or crowns to match a brighter smile.
