On Sept. 11, the South Plains chapter of the Red Cross will honor several local heroes in the community.
It's all part of their 5th Annual Breakfast of Champions event, hosted to honor "ordinary people responding extraordinary during times of urgency, who have simply placed others before themselves."
This year's honorees include a police officer, a first-year lifeguard, and a man who pulled a woman from a burning car in last week's fatal accident in South Lubbock.
South Plains Red Cross Chairman Bill Curnow said, "It's an opportunity to say: 'Thank you! Job well done,' and to support the mission of what we do here on the South Plains."
The breakfast will be held at 7:30 a.m. on September 11th at the Aerocare hangar at 6006 North Cedar Avenue.
Tickets are $50 dollars per person.
