Juneteenth festivities kick off Tuesday night with gospel singing and preaching at Mae Simmons Park.
T.J. Patterson announced the line up for this year's activities. Highlights include a parade starting at 10am on Saturday at the United Supermarket on Parkway and a gospel program and candlelight vigil Sunday night at 5pm at Mae Simmons Park.
Juneteenth is the oldest known celebration commemorating the end of slavery in America.
