LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) -
A one-mile portion of North Quaker Avenue will soon be a little brighter at night. The City of Lubbock is inviting contractors between now and September 18 to bid on a street light project along North Quaker between the North Loop and Clovis Highway. The city's capital projects budget sets aside up to $250,000 for North Quaker illumination. Once a contractor is chosen the project has a 60 day deadline.
In a separate but related note, last year the city set aside $3.6 million to be used alongside TxDOT funding for a new interchange at North Quaker and North Loop 289. The project is estimated to be $29 million.
