There's a very special effort happening behind the scenes among a handful of volunteers in Lubbock. It's a campaign to help honor Lubbock area veterans in a way like no other.
It's called the South Plains Honor Flight. Basically, a group of caring patriots are working to raise money to send U.S. military veterans from the South Plains to our nation's capitol.
The South Plains Honor Flight will fly South Plains veterans, particularly those from world war II and Korea, to Washington D.C. The mission: to give these heroes the first and perhaps only chance to view, in person, the memorials built in their honor.
Folks, if ever there was an effort worth supporting, it is this one.
This two-day trip October 2-4 will be chock full of events, dinners, receptions, and tours designed to do one thing: pay a small tribute to our local vets that fought for the freedom we all enjoy today.
The honor flight will be an all-expense-paid trip for these veterans, and they need your help. Please consider donating to this worthy cause.
The best way to do that right now is to send a check to the South Plains Honor Flight:

President Truman once said: "Our debt to the heroic men and valiant women in the service of our country can never be repaid."
The South Plains Honor Flight is, however, a way to show them that we do not forget.
